Tie a Yellow Ribbon ‘Round the Christmas Tree

by Cynthia Odom

Christmas Tree

As 2009 comes to a close and hundreds of thousands of US troops are deployed around the world, the need for “Faith in the Foxhole and Hope on the Home Front” continues to mount.

A new Afghanistan “surge.” A terrible tragedy at Ft. Hood, Texas. The highest military suicide rates in history. Eighty percent divorce rates for military marriages in some units. This is indeed an unprecedented time – a “time such as this.” A time that calls for extraordinary effort and renewed resolve to bless our American troops, veterans, and their families with the saving grace and healing of Jesus Christ.

Military Ministry is so thankful for your partnership with us. We wish you and your loved ones all the peace and good will that come with Christmas.  As you gather to celebrate the birth of “the One who took our bullet,” may you take heart that the sons and daughters of America selflessly stand in harm’s way on our behalf, taking our bullets also, that we might remain a free “nation under God.”

Pray for our troops by visiting our online prayer calendar.

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
