Cheering for the Home Team
by Cynthia OdomAs the NFL teams gear up for Sunday’s big Super Bowl game, and the fan frenzy begins, we will be cheering for our favorite team – the U.S. Armed Forces.
The sights and sounds of the event are reminders of the true American heroes – the Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine and Guardsman and their families:
- The sound of the National Anthem followed by the traditional fighter jet flyover. The players and coaches in this video describe the emotions they feel when experiencing an exciting pregame flyby.
- Live feeds from our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as they gather together to watch the game (view U.S. Soldiers watching Super Bowl XLIII).
So as you enjoy the game with family and friends, take a moment to remember the service members and their families who sacrifice so much on our behalf.
Praise God for the real champions – our troops and their families!
