Dear Friends,

Please join us at the Westin Park Central Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on April 23, 2009 for an evening of inspiration and challenge as we rally together to support our troops.  Generations in the Balance will change the way you think about our returning warriors and their families.

As you well know, our great veterans of times past have purchased our freedom with their selfless service, their blood, and their very lives.

We are the “Land of the Free” because of these brave veterans and their families.  And so it is today.  Our current troops with their families in support serve in tough places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and over 100 other countries around the world.  They desperately need our support on the battlefront.

As well, hundreds of thousands of returning warriors and their families continue to fight a second war on the home front, particularly the effects of combat trauma, and especially Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.  This PTSD spawns second order suicide, divorce, lawlessness, homelessness, and lost potential as productive members of society.  In fact, whole generations are at risk, in the balance, from this debilitating epidemic that spans decades of veterans and eats away at our national fabric.

This situation is now a full blown national crisis.

At Generations in the Balance, you will hear heart rending reports from warriors and their families about the challenges they face, as well as the healing and restoration resulting from Jesus Christ, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

You will be inspired and challenged to become part of a national solution to redeem generations of veterans, troops, and families.  I look forward to seeing you there.

DID YOU KNOW?

• The US Army reported historic suicide levels in 2007, and again in 2008.  In January 2009 — more Army suicides than fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
  • This is not business as usual – we have an epidemic-there are generations in the balance.  Military Ministry is bringing faith and hope to this fight.
• The Department of Defense estimates that one in five returning warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from the most severe forms of combat trauma known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.  Millions of veterans are still plagued with the impacts of their combat experiences.
  • Our Christ Centered Solutions for Combat Trauma are redeeming thousands from the despair and destruction of PTSD and related issues.
• Guard and Reserve units comprise 57% of Iraq/Afghanistan deployed forces.  These returning “citizen soldiers,” embedded in the woodwork of America, are at great risk.
  • Our Bridges to Healing program seeks to “Mobilize 1000s of Churches, and 10,000s of Lay and Professional Counselors, on behalf of 100,000s of Combat Trauma Sufferers and their families.
• The secondary effects of PTSD on family and friends seriously affect roughly 10 people for every suffering military member.
  • Our Military Family programs and resources heal broken families and provide Hope on the Home Front.
• Military Ministry also provides “the ounce of Gospel prevention worth a pound of cure.”
  • The 2 millionth Rapid Deployment Kit Bible was shipped out this January, helping to meet the demand for God’s Word among our military members.
  • Nearly 1000 basic training recruits make a decision for Christ in Military Ministry religious education classes every week!
  • VALOR programs touching 120 ROTC detachments around the country, including Texas A&M.
  • Military Ministry International continues to impact nations around the world, now in 22 nations with powerful impact.  In Ecuador recently, Military Ministry leadership development classes resulted in 1100 officers and NCOs coming to faith in Christ.

Generations truly are in the balance…
