Recovery after Deployment

Does the following verse ring true with you?

I am poor and needy; I am hurt to the depths of my heart. Psalms 109:22

If it does you are not alone, this was written by King David, the mighty warrior. Another example is a talented football player “taking a knee,” or taking some down time on the bench sucking down some oxygen in a big game. These examples are not of weakness, but of strength, knowing when to say “I NEED HELP. I need a break.”

BUILDING A HEALING ENVIRONMENT

If you are serious about ensuring post-adversity growth and spiritual fitness, be intentional about including these six elements in your post-deployment world:

  1. Continue your daily devotionals.
  2. Stay filled with the Holy Spiritu.
  3. Seek out Christian friends.
  4. Get involved in a church or chapel.
  5. Dialog about your trauma and current anxieties.
  6. Serve.
