As an ROTC cadet two years ago, Rob Hannum started one of the first Military Ministry Valor programs at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. He organized cadet Bible studies and worked with the VA Tech campus staff and our new Valor staff team to help pioneer the Valor movement that has now spread across the U.S.
Rob mentored the cadets who would take over Valor leadership at Tech after he graduated. The next year these new leaders really took the Valor movement to the next level. Virginia Tech cadets played a significant role in two Katrina Relief efforts at Keesler AFB Mississippi over Thanksgiving and Spring break that year.

VA Tech Cadets Doing Katrina Relief (Thanksgiving 2005)
Rob met Lara at Campus Crusade headquarters in Orlando, where they were both serving as summer interns prior to their senior year. They both joined the Military Ministry associate staff team - Rob attended staff training during his senior year, and Lara went the summer after they graduated.
The Hannums attended a FamilyLife Weekend to Remember marriage conference right after they got married, and now they are sharing what they learned with other military couples by organizing Military HomeBuildersĀ® marriage groups on their base in Oklahoma, where Rob is in USAF pilot training. This young couple is now working with U.S. Air Force chaplains to bring a Military Marriage Seminar (the Military Ministry version of the Weekend to Remember) to Vance AFB.
Results of the efforts of the Hannums and other associate staff couples: 37 Military Marriage Seminars in FY 2001-05 resulting in 366 salvations; 18 Marriage Seminars this year resulting in 89 salvations; and seven Weekend to Remember marriage conferences in 2006, with 175 couples attending by Military Ministry scholarships.
