The voice of the Lord is over the waters,
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood.
Psalm 29:3a, 10
God, are you with me? In this very difficult time, the Psalmist gives me hope in what can be a very fearful situation. Can I hear your voice? With circumstances of deployment and the stresses that come from being a family separated, the flood of emotions can be confusing and weakening. It often feels like I am drowning, unable to cope with what once was taken for granted.
The Psalmist is speaking to me, calling me to listen to “the voice of the Lord”. His voice is powerful and majestic. Reading further in the Psalm, he tells me that the Lord’s voice can break the cedars into pieces. His voice strikes, shakes, twists and “strips the forest bare.” It is the Lord who gives strength to his people, and He will bless his people with peace.”
When the waters of despair seek to drown me, I need to listen to his tender voice and He will give strength and help to me in a difficult place. He can “break the cedars” of fear and I will be strengthened. I can be healed. What I must do is to rise above the waters of fear that seek to drown me and focus on the Lord. He is enthroned over this flood.
Prayer
Lord, strength and honor go before you. Help me to hear your voice over the waters of my fear. Bless me today with strength and peace. Amen
The prayer of our Military families is to be able to ride this tidal wave of Post Traumatic Stress from the deployment and separation that is difficult on every member of the family. Many times the stress from combat does not go away for the Soldier and the syndrome begins.
For many soldiers, coming home and beginning to feel all is not well, can be very fearful. The spouse and family feel overwhelmed and flooded with all sorts of difficulty not even imagined during the days of separation.
Pray for our Military and Their Families
