#8 - Moving Forward By Faith

I don’t know where the spirit of the Lord may carry you (Elijah) when I leave you.  If I go and tell Ahab and he doesn’t find you, he will kill me.  Yet I your servant have worshipped the Lord since by youth.  (Obadiah)
I Kings 18:12

Do I trust in the Lord for the length of my life?  Am I sure that He will carry me through my trial of illness?  Will God allow this illness to take away even one day that He has ordained for me?

I can learn from Obadiah in this passage of scripture.  Obadiah does not know the outcome of what Elijah is telling him to do.  With a king bent on getting rid of Elijah, his life surely could be taken from him if Ahab doesn’t find the prophet, as was told to him.

Even still, Obadiah has known his God since youth.  He is assured that this God can be trusted even when the outcome is uncertain.  In looking back at his life with God, he can look forward with confidence that the outcome can be trusted with God’s leading him.  I want to have that assurance that the God I worship will help me have faith for this current situation and leave the outcome to Him.

Prayer

Father, help me to learn complete trust in You as I face the unknown of this suffering.

Faith is what we need to move forward in this path of PTSD. The times when it looks like we are alone in this and headed for destruction, faith will muster one last stand against the power of perceived devastation. What we perceive as an end to our lives, can be seen by faith as possibly a new beginning, one of service that we may never have imagined through the pain of our path.

Pray for Military Families

  1. Pray for troops and their family members to have faith to move forward in this path of PTSD.
  2. Pray that the Spirit of the Lord will carry the troops and their family members as they are experiencing this on-going pain of PTSD.
